The 4S is glass front and back, sitting either side of a stainless steel band. Both panels break, and both are repairs we still do.
It uses the old 30-pin dock connector rather than Lightning, which is worth remembering when you are hunting for a cable. Batteries at this age hold very little, so if you are reviving a 4S, plan on a new one.
