This video brought to you by iFixYouri and our friends at 9to5mac.com. The iPhone 6s Touch ID, in its second generation, and the iPhone 6 and iPhone 5 with their first generation touch ID go head to head in this comparison video. You can see the 6s is a bit faster than the 6, with the 5s just being difficult.

While this test does have a degree of human element involved (everyone’s fingerprint is unique after all, as well as their thumb size/shape too), after doing several takes for the video, it was clear that the second generation touch ID of the iPhone 6s is faster than its predecessor. Also of note, the iPhone 5s repeatedly had problems and required several tries. User error? Possibly, but the 5s has the same sensor as the 6… the first generation version. It’s not going to test faster than the 6s, no matter how many times you try.

On announcing the feature, Apple has stated that this fingerprint information is stored securely location on the Apple A7 (in iPhone 5S and iPad mini 3 (APL0698)), A8 (in iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus and iPad Mini 4), or A8X (in iPad Air 2) and A9X in iPad Pro chip rather than being stored in the cloud.
